February 1945 Wakayama Prefecture School of Medicine accredited (four-year, in Misono)
June 1947 Wakayama Medical University Preparatory Course accredited (three-year program)
February 1948 Wakayama Medical University accredited (Medical University under the old system, four-year program)
March 1950 Wakayama College of Science Studies annexed (2-year program)
March 1951 Wakayama Prefecture School of Medicine and Preparatory Course closed February 1952 Wakayama Medical University accredited through educational reform
January 1955 Wakayama Medical University Premedical Course accredited
March 1955 Wakayama College of Science Studies closed
April 1955 Wakayama Medical University opened (6-year program; enrollment capacity: 40)
July 1958 Academic degrees authoralized
March 1960 Wakayama Medical University Graduate School accredited
March 1961 Wakayama Medical University under the old system abolished
April 1963 University Head Office and Department of Basic Medicine relocated to 9-ban-cho
January 1964 Enrollment limit increased to 60
April 1965 Premedical Course relocated to Kii
December 1995 Nursing college annexed ( 3-year program)
September 1998 Opening ceremony for Wakayama Medical University held (Kimiidera)
May 1999 Integrative relocation of Wakayama Medical University relocated for integration (Kimiidera)
September 1999 Lifelong Learning and Medical Community Center opened
April 2004 School of Health and Nursing Science opened
April 2005 A graduated program was initiated in the Graduate School of Medicine
April 2006 Structural changes made to Wakayama Prefectural Medical University
August 2006 Selected as "Distinctive GP" and "Contemporary GP" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
March 2007 Nursing college closed
August 2007 Selected as "Student Support GP" and "Medical staff GP" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
October 2007 Eighty-five enrollment application in the School of Medicine accepted
April 2008 Graduate School of Health and Nursing Sciences and Graduate Program in Midwifery added
October 2008 Ninety-five enrollment application in the School of Medicine accepted
October 2009 Selected as "Program for Promoting High-Quality University Education" By the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
November 2009 One hundred enrollment application in the School of Medicine accepted
April 2015 Establishment of the second stage of doctoral program Graduate School of Health and Nursing Science
